About

Kathryn Diaz, LMFT

My work as a psychotherapist has been shaped by both professional training and lived experience. The approaches I use are those I have found to be most meaningful and effective in supporting deep, lasting change—forming the foundation of my work as a holistic, integrative therapist.

I am committed to creating a compassionate, attuned therapeutic space where individuals can explore their inner world, work through trauma and limiting beliefs, and reconnect with themselves in the present moment. My approach is grounded in empathy and respect for each person’s unique experience, honoring the interconnectedness of mind, body, and inner life.

Therapy sessions are relational, intuitive, and trauma-informed. I am direct, but gentle, and tailor each session to the individual’s needs and goals. My clinical training includes trauma and PTSD, addiction, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Jungian psychology, art therapy, attachment and relationship work, spiritual concerns, grief, and infertility.

I believe healing is not about fixing what is broken, but about restoring connection and coherence across all aspects of the self. My role is to support this process with care, presence, and thoughtful integration.

I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2014, beginning my clinical work in residential treatment centers in Malibu, California, supporting individuals in recovery from substance use. It was in this setting that I began to recognize the limitations of traditional talk therapy alone, particularly for those working through trauma, addiction, and deeply ingrained patterns of suffering.

Over time, my work naturally expanded to include symbolic and spiritual frameworks as a way of helping clients make sense of their inner experience. I observed that when psychological insight was paired with meaning-making and attuned presence, individuals were able to connect with themselves more deeply and engage in healing that felt both grounded and authentic. This integrative orientation also felt more aligned with who I was as a clinician, allowing greater authenticity in the therapeutic relationship itself.

Several years later, my training deepened further through Attachment-Focused EMDR and Somatic Experiencing, which added a nervous system–based and embodied dimension to my work. These approaches expanded my capacity to support clients in processing trauma, regulating the nervous system, and restoring a sense of safety and coherence from the inside out.

Today, my work reflects an integrative approach that honors psychological, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of healing. I aim to create a steady, open, and compassionate therapeutic space where clients can explore their inner world and engage in healing at multiple levels—guided by presence, attunement, and respect for each individual’s process.
